It’s Week 6 of the 2025 NFL season, and the margin between winning and chasing points is razor thin—so let’s get surgical. We’re skipping the obvious auto-start studs and zeroing in on the real decisions you’ve been DM’ing about: borderline must-starts, sneaky upside plays, and trap matchups that can sink your week. Using fresh 2025 usage trends, red-zone roles, and opponent tendencies, we’ll separate signal from noise at QB, RB, WR, and TE—so you can lock your lineup with confidence and stop second-guessing when the inactives drop.

Quarterbacks

Start of the Week: Dak Prescott (DAL) at CAR

Prescott is in full command: 1,356 pass yards (No. 2), 10 TD (T-3rd), 76.5 QBR (No. 3). Carolina’s defense has improved overall, but they’re not scaring us off elite QB efficiency, and Dallas’ passing game is rolling even as the WR room shuffles. In a pace-up road spot, “set it and forget it.” NBC Sports+3ESPN.com+3ESPN.com+3

Other QB Starts

  • Jordan Love (GB) vs CIN) — Cincinnati’s pass defense has been a turnstile, allowing 300+ passing yards per game and an NFL-worst QBR against; and If we get Joe Flacco keeping it competitive, that’s good news for volume and ceiling.
  • Daniel Jones (IND) vs ARI) — Jones has stabilized the Colts’ attack and gets a home date vs. a defense that has been torched this year. Indy’s passing game is producing and Michael Pittman Jr. already has 4 TD; stack volatility tilts in Jones’ favor at home. Reuters
  • Matthew Stafford (LAR) at BAL) — Stafford leads the league in passing yardage and draws a defense that’s been leaky against fantasy QBs. Ride the hot hand, If Cooper Rush can find a way to keep the Ravens competitive the sky is the limit for Stafford.

Sit of the Week: Kyler Murray (ARI) at IND)

This hinges on health. Murray missed back-to-back practices with a foot injury on his plant leg, threatening both mobility and accuracy. If he’s active, he’s a high-risk start; pivot where you can. Reuters

Other QB Sits: Bo Nix (DEN) vs NYJ in London (defense + travel sap ceiling), Tua Tagovailoa (MIA) vs LAC (no Tyreek Hill severely caps explosive plays; see TE section for Miami’s target shifts). Big Blue View+1

Running Backs

Start of the Week: Rico Dowdle / Chuba Hubbard (CAR) vs DAL

If Chuba is active, he’s a viable RB2; if he sits, Rico is a smash after erupting for 206 yards in Week 5. Carolina has leaned into the ground game, and Dallas has sprung leaks up front when stressed by volume. Monitor Hubbard’s status; play the hot hand.

  • Travis Etienne Jr. (JAX) vs SEA) — Bank the role. Etienne is top-5 in rushing with 389 yards and 5 TDs, and Seattle has allowed chunk gains on the ground (4.6 YPC allowed). Usage + matchup = green light.
  • Jacory Croskey-Merritt (WAS) vs CHI) — Washington should continue riding the hot hand after JCM’s Week 5 breakout (~111 rushing yards, 2 TD). Chicago’s front is improving, but the Commanders’ run script at home keeps him firmly in RB2 territory.
  • J.K. Dobbins (DEN) vs NYJ) — Dobbins has controlled this backfield while rookie RJ Harvey is worked in sparingly; Denver projects for a positive script. Volume + goal-line equity travels.
  • Rachaad White (TB) vs SF) — With Bucky Irving banged up, White’s workload is stable and high-leverage. Tampa has been comfortable riding him in scoring areas; treat him as a high-floor RB2. SI

Sit of the Week: Hassan Haskins / Kimani Vidal (LAC) at MIA)

With Omarion Hampton to IR, the Chargers are piecing it together. Expect a split between Haskins and Vidal in Week 6; great matchup or not, the uncertainty makes each a bench for one week. ESPN.com+1

Other RB Sits (quick hits):
Michael Carter (ARI) at IND (role volatility), TreVeyon Henderson (NE) at NO (committee risk), Isaiah Pacheco (KC) vs DET (projected shootout slants pass-heavy; TD-or-bust profile).

Wide Receivers

Start of the Week: Drake London (ATL) vs BUF)

Don’t overthink it. Fresh off the bye, London is the featured alpha (24-269-1 on 37 targets) and gets a Bills secondary that’s been more attackable than advertised. Expect heavy play-action shots and red-zone looks. ESPN.com+1

  • Xavier Worthy (KC) vs DET) — Monitor practice, but when active he’s been electric ( 11/125 the last 2 weeks) and Detroit’s DB room is dinged (Terrion Arnold DNP). Pace and total point to spike-week potential. PFSN+1
  • Michael Pittman Jr. (IND) vs ARI) — Jones’ WR1 already has 26-273-4 and consistent weekly usage; at home vs. a defense possibly down its starting QB, Pittman’s TD equity remains strong. ESPN.com
  • Stefon Diggs (NE) at NO) — Back-to-back heaters (including 10-146 at Buffalo) and double-digit target share with Drake Maye. Volume travels; he remains a high-end start despite a tougher Saints secondary. NESN.com+1
  • A.J. Brown (PHI) at NYG, TNF) — The counting stats have lagged (19-194-1), but the talent + usage are intact. Bank on positive regression vs. a defense that can be stressed by physical X receivers. ESPN.com
  • Keenan Allen (LAC) at MIA)29-289-3 and still a target magnet. Miami has leaked production to WRs overall; Allen’s slot usage should pile up chain-moving volume with red-zone looks mixed in. ESPN.com+1

Sit of the Week: DJ Moore (CHI) at WAS)

The chemistry with Caleb Williams has run hot-cold while Rome Odunze grabs more of the high-value looks. On the road in prime time against a fast Commanders front, Moore profiles as a volatile WR3/flex this week. Heavy Sports+1

Other WR Sits (quick hits):
Jameson Williams (DET) at KC (target volatility), Wan’Dale Robinson (NYG) vs PHI (low aDOT + TNF squeeze), Chris Godwin (TB) vs SF (role compresses if Tampa leans run/TEs).

Tight Ends

Detroit Lions tight end Sam LaPorta (87) makes a catch and run against Kansas City Chiefs defensive end Mike Danna, right, during the first half of an NFL football game, Thursday, Sept. 7, 2023 in Kansas City, Mo. (AP Photo/Reed Hoffmann)

Start of the Week: Sam LaPorta (DET) at KC)

LaPorta just posted 5-92-1 and sits top-6 among TEs in yardage on the year. With Detroit likely in a Sunday night shootout, he’s a bankable volume play with real explosion after the catch. Pride Of Detroit+1

Other TE Starts

  • Dalton Kincaid (BUF) at ATL) — Coming off a 108-yard game and trending up in route share. Buffalo’s staff has every reason to keep feeding him beneath and up the seams. Reuters
  • Darren Waller (MIA) vs LAC) — With Tyreek Hill out for the season, Miami’s middle-of-field targets have condensed. Waller’s snaps and involvement jumped, giving him top-8 weekly upside. ESPN.com+1

Sit of the Week: Theo Johnson (NYG) vs PHI, TNF)

Coming off a two-TD splash, but Thursday’s matchup is tougher and New York’s passing pie is thin. Regression risk is high on short rest. SB Nation

Other TE Sits (quick hits):
Evan Engram (DEN) vs NYJ (run-lean + red-zone split), Mark Andrews (BAL) vs LAR (Rams have limited TE splash plays and Baltimore’s pass game has been inconsistent week to week).

Deep Plays

  • QB: Sam Darnold (SEA) at JAX — Streaming dart in a likely neutral script with play-action shots on the table.
  • QB: Bryce Young (CAR) vs DAL — If chasing volume, negative game script could push him past 35 attempts.
  • RB: Rhamondre Stevenson (NE) at NO — Touch share and inside-the-5 work provide sneaky TD equity.
  • RB: Zach Charbonnet (SEA) at JAX — If Seattle tilts run-heavy, he can out-touch in the second half.
  • RB: Kendre Miller (NO) vs NE — Passing-down usage gives him PPR life if New England heats up.
  • WR: Jauan Jennings (SF) at TB — Elevated routes vs. a defense that’s allowed slot production.
  • WR: Romeo Doubs (GB) vs CIN — Bengals’ secondary has bled WR points; Love + Doubs correlation.
  • WR: Marquise “Hollywood” Brown (KC) vs DET — If Worthy’s limited at all, Brown’s downfield targets spike. Kansas City Chiefs

Final Thoughts

Week 6 gives us clear green lights grounded in current usage and opponent tendencies. Lean into concentrated offenses (Indy, Detroit, Kansas City when healthy), fade ambiguous splits (Chargers RBs), and respect health signals (Kyler). When in doubt, chase snaps, targets and teams with real scoring equity—and you’ll avoid the landmines while capturing the week’s spike weeks. Good luck—let’s stack another W.
